About

Want advice on living a healthier life, more in line with nature? Then you have come to the right place!

While working as a pharmacist in the healthcare field, I quickly realized that I did not agree with the ‘common’ way of thinking and thought many medications were overused in American society.  I found that many of the problems patients had could be improved, or even completely resolved, by lifestyle modification.  My interest in natural medicine and nutrition was piqued even more when I started looking into the ‘eating for your blood type’ diet and realized how important food really is to your health.  The documentaries Food Inc. and Food Matters sparked my interest even more and made me passionate about our food supply. I became thirsty for knowledge on nutrition and natural medicine topics and began to seek out any documentaries, articles, and books I could find.

After having a rare complication from a miscarriage and going through chemotherapy, I decided there must be a better way.  A better way for our farmers to use healthy procedures when growing crops, to use humane practices for raising animals for food; a better way for our healthcare system to take care of patients without giving them dangerous drugs or exposing them to unnecessary harm during certain procedures; a different way of thinking that has to do with nature; with what makes sense and not simply what makes money.  So I set out to spread my knowledge to others who may be interested in natural medicine.  Follow me in my journey as I challenge traditional healthcare beliefs.

  1. How beautiful it is to see that while our society leads us in circumventing avenues that pretty much limit us and prevent our evolution, there is still a part of our inner wisdom that drives individuals like you to search for something better. Our tragic experiences literally birth into our lives new possibilities, new paths to follow. Thank you for taking the step to share your experience and embark in a journey that will help others become less limited.

    – With great admiration, your now even closer friend,
    Juan.

  2. Great website, Tina! Can’t wait to read more! P.s. I won’t carry a cellphone either…and only use it rarely…I think we’ll see mor brain cancer as a result of all the cellphone use…but I’ve been saying that since the 1990’s when the first bag phones became popular!

  3. Hi Tina, I just ran across your blog today. I run a blog called AMPTheMagazine, but I also promote a brand of soap called Barley Rose that’s totally natural. The website is http://barleyrose.com/, and it has a little information about the soap. Still, it’s really good stuff and a lot safer than most store-bought soaps, so I thought you might like to know about it. I do like your blog, by the way.

    • Thank you Ryan! I like your soap website – looks like good stuff! I make my own skincare products (lip balm, body butter, and deodorant so far) and will be marketing them soon! =)

    • Actually it is in Berlin, Germany! Berlin also has great outdoor art with many well known graffiti artists. I actually participated in a graffiti/underground artists tour while I was there – such amazing talent and such inspiring messages to share.

  4. Hello Tina! I got some of the peppermint lip balm at the Bizarre Bazaar last month. I must say the concept and ingenuity into your products is spot on. I’ve been experiencing some trouble with it though. In the corners of my mouth I get a lot of irritation, scabs over, and becomes painful for a few days. I hope no one else has this issue because it’s a wonderful product.

    • I have not had anyone else have issues with the product – it sounds like you have an allergy to one of the ingredients! I would recommend not using it and investigating which ingredient you have an allergy to. The ingredients are: organic shea butter, organic unrefined coconut oil, beeswax, and organic peppermint essential oil.

  5. Hi Tina. I am in college currently looking to go to Pharmacy school, but I have been interested in natural medicine/healing since my Freshman year. I would like to be able to combine what I learn in Pharmacy school with natural techniques in my own practice someday. However, I don’t know what the best way of going about this is. I have looked at Nutrition classes and Natural Pharmacy schools (way out of the way and budget). Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do or look in to?

    • I am still figuring out the best way to go about combining my love of natural medicine with pharmacy myself! My advice for you if you haven’t started pharmacy school yet is to really do some soul searching and figure out if pharmacy is right for you or if you should consider other options such as a masters in holistic nutrition or becoming a naturopathic doctor.

If you do want to go ahead with pharmacy you could get involved with compounding so you can make more natural things like bioidentical hormones. Or you can get into homeopathy or herbals and work at a pharmacy that emphasizes their use. You can also get a certificate in nutrition, but like you mentioned this is quite pricey and intense as far as keeping up with continuing education. You could consider a fellowship in anti-aging and regenerative medicine.

There are a lot of options out there, it’s just figuring out what you really want to focus on and the best way to go about certifications and getting experience… good luck as you find your way!

      • Thank you very much! I hadn’t thought of some of the things you suggested. I will do more research on those. Thanks again!
